Now Available – Scholarship Applications

The Kenosha Community Foundation announces that it is now accepting applications for the following scholarships:

• the new Mary D. Bradford High School Class of ’61 Scholarships, specifically for seniors at Bradford High School [Click here for the Mary D. Bradford High School Class of ’61 Scholarship application.]
• the Herman and Virginia Gundlach Scholarships for area all high school seniors who are currently attending Kenosha County’s eight public high schools [Click here for the Herman and Virginia Gundlach Scholarship application.]
• the Mahone CEO Scholarships for Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD) High Schools and St. Joseph Catholic Academy High School seniors

About the Bradford High School Class of ‘61 Scholarship
For the Bradford High School Class of ‘61 Scholarship, the Foundation seeks applications from high school seniors attending Bradford High School. In addition, applicants should:

• Have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75 or above
• Plan to attend a four-year college, university or two-year accredited technical school in the state of Wisconsin.

Consideration shall be given to financial need, and to evidence of extra effort in school or community activities. Three Bradford High School students will each receive a $1,500 scholarship.
Deadline for Bradford High School Class of ’61 Scholarships applications is February 28, 2017. The Foundation will announce recipients of the scholarships later in the spring.

“We are excited to offer this new scholarship opportunity to Bradford’s seniors,” says Robert Schneider, the Foundation’s Executive Director. “For more than five decades, the graduates of the Mary D. Bradford High School Class of 1961 have remained a close knit group of friend, and have discussed ways to give back to the future generations of Bradford graduates. Early this year (2016), members of the 1961 class collected funds and established a scholarship fund at the Foundation for the benefit of the current and future generations of students graduating from Bradford High.”

About the Herman and Virginia Gundlach Scholarship
For the Gundlach Scholarship, the Foundation seeks applications from high school seniors:

• Attending one of the eight public high schools in Kenosha County: Bradford, Harborside Academy, Indian Trail, LakeView Technical Academy, Reuther, Tremper, Westosha Central, Wilmot Union.
• Have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or above.
• Plan to attend a four-year college, university or two-year accredited technical school in the state of Wisconsin.

Consideration shall be given to financial need, and to evidence of extra effort in school or community activities. Each student selected will receive a $3,000 scholarship. In 2016, Foundation awarded Gundlach Scholarships to eight Kenosha County seniors.

Deadline for Gundlach Scholarship applications is February 28, 2017.

About the Mahone CEO Scholarships
The Mary Lou and Arthur F. Mahone Fund is offering three scholarship opportunities to all eligible Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD) High Schools, and St. Joseph Catholic Academy High School seniors pursuing their education at a two-year or four-year institution:

For the Mahone Fund CEO Youth Scholarship (8 available) applicants must:

• attend one of the following high schools: Mary D. Bradford, Tremper, Reuther Central, IndianTrail Academy, LakeView Technology Academy, Harborside Academy, or St. Joseph High School;
• demonstrate financial need. For example, PROOF of financial hardship in immediate family, or eligibility for free and reduced meal benefit, etc.
• have a minimum 2.5 GPA on an unweighted scale;
• have demonstrated leadership through participation in school and community extra-curricular activities

For the Mahone Fund Carthage College Scholarship – Carthage College has partnered with the Mahone Fund to provide one full-tuition scholarship to an incoming 2017 freshman – applicants must:

• complete all the eligibility requirements for the Mahone CEO Youth Scholarship;
• have applied for admission to Carthage College;
• must have a 3.2 GPA and 23 ACT score.

For the Mahone Fund Herzing University Scholarship – Herzing University has partnered with the Mahone Fund to provide two full-tuition scholarships granted to incoming 2017 freshmen who are interested in pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree through the Herzing University system – applicants must:

• complete all the eligibility requirements for the Mahone CEO Youth Scholarship;
• have applied for admission to Herzing University;
• must meet program entrance level requirements for Herzing University

Deadline for applications for all Mahone CEO Youth Scholarships is Friday, February 17, 2017. In addition to the Foundation website, applications and additional information on these scholarships are also available at MahoneFund.org.
