About the Foundation
The Kenosha Community Foundation is a community philanthropic organization structured to receive charitable gifts of any size to advance civic, cultural, educational, health, and welfare causes throughout Kenosha County.  As a community foundation, we are a tax-exempt public charity, providing a permanent philanthropic endowment that features an annual grant-making program that is responsive and inclusive.  We also provide numerous charitable vehicles for donors with diverse philanthropic interests:

  • Donor-Advised Endowment Funds
  • Special Donor Advised Funds
  • Named Endowment Funds
  • Scholarship Funds
  • Organization Endowment Funds

Field of Interest Funds, including:

  • he Kenosha Arts Fund
  • The Kenosha Environmental Fund

  • The Mary Lou Mahone Endowment Fund
  • Take Stock in Kenosha
  • The Women’s Fund 

Key events of 2007
The Foundation awarded $30,789 in scholarships to thirty-three local students and educational institutions, through:

  • Herman and Virginia Gundlach Scholarships
  • Mary Lou Mahone Youth Scholar Awards
  • The Henry A. Link Scholarship Fund
  • The Mary Louise Link Scholarship Fund
  • The Emery McNeil Scholarship Fund
  • The Manny Mitka Fund
  • The Jessie C. and Ward R. Cropley Scholarship Fund 

The Foundation provided 37 grants totaling $67,150 through Donor Advised Funds

Grants from The Women’s Fund
The purpose of The Women’s Fund is to promote and support programs that create opportunities for women and children through responsive philanthropy and community involvement.  The following grants were awarded in 2007 from The Women’s Fund:

The Foundation’s Grants Committee focused on collaborative projects addressing literacy and lifelong learning for its grant proposal solicitation and review.  Funds for the Grants Committee’s unrestricted grant-making activity were provided by:  The Ashley Fund, The Enroth Family Fund, The Ralph L. and Frances A. Jaeschke Fund, The A. Allan and Isabel M. Jankus Unrestricted Endowment Fund, The Kenosha News Charitable Fund, and The Edna Mae and C. Wesley Orvis Fund.  The following grants were awarded in 2007.
