Kenosha Community Foundation
  • The Mary Lou and Arthur F. Mahone Fund

Mary Lou Mahone was a community leader and tireless advocate for human rights for all persons.  She helped shape the Kenosha community through her dedication, love, and compassion.

The Mary Lou Mahone Endowment Fund was created in 1999 as an open Field of Interest Fund within the Foundation, to celebrate her life and legacy.  The Fund’s mission is to address the needs of disadvantaged individuals through the creation of opportunities in youth leadership activities, women’s health initiatives, and senior citizen programs.  Through the community’s generous response to the Fund’s ideals, and through such fund raising efforts as the annual “Reaching for Rainbows” Gospel Fest, the Mary Lou Mahone Golf Classic, and the Jazz & Blues Festival, the Endowment Fund has grown to more than $400,000.

The Fund has enabled numerous young Kenoshans to pursue their collegiate dreams as Mary Lou Mahone Youth Scholars, with additional Youth Scholars named each year.  Their achievements in school and beyond honor the memory of Mary Lou Mahone every day.  Also, Endowment funds have been earmarked for a collaborative women’s health initiative to assist individuals who cannot otherwise afford breast cancer treatment.

Contributions may be made to the Mary Lou Mahone Endowment Fund at any time, in any amounts.
